Kinder, Gentler Walz

Minnesota is hardly the center of the political universe, but it turns out that--for the moment--my small state has outsized influence on the Democratic Party.

Everybody knows that Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's choice for Vice President, is the Governor of Minnesota. Fewer people know that his friend Ken Martin now heads the Democratic National Committee. Martin has been the Chair of the DFL — our version of the Democratic Party — under Walz's tenure, and his power has increased alongside Walz's.

Because Minnesota has become a nexus of power within the party infrastructure, the DNC held its summer conference here in Minneapolis, and it was quite the showstopper. Walz, as you would imagine, was heavily featured, and he didn't disappoint.

Walz loves to portray himself as a kinder, gentler Democrat who believes that socialism is just another word for neighborliness and riot is just another word for public health advocacy.

Walz was downright neighborly this week.

Walz is a deeply unpleasant man who runs the most corrupt government that Minnesota has ever seen. We have seen so much fraud--fraud that just coincidentally flows into the pockets of Democrats and Democrat constituencies--that one would be led to believe that the system was set up to be a state-level version of USAID. Lots of high-minded rhetoric, and lots of money going to political cronies.

The Feeding Our Future scandal--somewhere around $250 million funneled to fake, Somali-run food kitchens that were supposed to provide meals for kids--was set up by a Democratic Party power player, and staffed by Somalis whom the US Attorney is convicting at a steady clip. The state should have been doing the prosecution, but it turns out that Keith Ellison, our Attorney General, was in on the fraud and helped keep the money flowing when bureaucrats in the Department of Education tried to stop the stealing.

Feeding Our Future is just one of many such frauds. We have the autism center frauds--also Somali--and the day care fraud (guess who). Tim Walz is in the middle of it all, and the Democratic Party wanted him to become our Vice President.

Walz is considering whether he will run for a third term as governor--he bowed out of the Senate race because his Lieutenant Governor jumped in, and he rightly worries that she would be even more appealing to Democratic primary voters because she makes Tim look moderate.

But he may face another, even farther left and more corrupt opponent in that race. Our Attorney General, who is a big fan of Antifa, wants the job. Ellison, too, has a national profile (he was Deputy Chair of the DNC), and in a race between the two Walz may prove the weaker candidate.

We have come a long way from the days when Hubert Humphrey kicked the communists out of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party back in 1945. As with John Kennedy, he would be considered a far-right, near-Nazi by the current crop of candidates running the Minnesota DFL.

Today, the communists run the party, and like most communists, they are more kleptocrats than anything else.

That, and nasty as hell.
