Hilarious: Mamdani Refuses to Endorse Hochul After She Endorsed Him

In my (short-lived) break from covering the left's meltdown of the Charlie Kirk assassination meltdown, I thought I would take a moment to provide a chuckle with this story that appeared yesterday.

Kathy Hochul bowed to the pressure coming from her left flank, finally endorsing Zohran Mamdani for the Mayor of New York City. Like many Democrats with national ambitions, she had been reading the national mood and was reluctant to back an actual communist for one of the most powerful political positions in the country.

But she buckled to the pressure from the left, and gave the most absurd explanation for doing so. Predictable, yes, but absurd nonetheless.

Trump made her do it.

No kidding. She endorsed him because he would fight Trump, as if that is not the raison d'être of the entire Democratic Party at this point in time.

Mamdani, though, is a good communist revolutionary and returned the favor by doing what all good commies do: stabbing her in the back.

When the revolution comes, their useful idiots are often the first ones up against the wall, as it were.

Is there any sweeter justice than this?

Hochul on Sunday endorsed Mamdani in the November mayoral race, claiming to have found common ground with the democratic socialist, including on the issue of affordability.

But Mamdani on Monday declined to return the favor, and did not pledge his backing of Hochul’s re-election bid next year — at least for the time being.

Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani decliend to endorse Gov. Kathy Hochul’s re-election bid.

He told reporters it was premature to ask about “the thing beyond the thing.”

“My focus is on November, and I’m excited to have the governor’s support in that fight for November,” Mamdani said.

The apparent snub raised eyebrows, including from Rep. Elise Stefanik — a potential Republican gubernatorial opponent — who said it made Hochul look weak.

Hochul argues Zohran Mamdani would be best candidate to ‘stand up’ to Trump — as she defends shock endorsement in NYC mayoral race

“Even Mamdani refuses to support Kathy Hochul less than 24 hours after she endorsed him!” the upstate New York congresswoman said in a statement Tuesday on X.

Elise is so good, isn't she?

Mamdani couldn't even muster a "Hochul has been a good governor" comment to cover his non-endorsement. He goes straight to the "it's premature" line.

Does he have to see her platform before he endorses? Perhaps he needs to get a sense of whether a different candidate would be better? Maybe he likes Elise?

Or, maybe, some commie will run. You have to know he wants Chuck Schumer replaced by AOC. Does he have somebody in mind for the governor's mansion?

As fun as it is to call Kathy Hochul "Comrade Kathy" now, the truth is both more and less dire. Hochul is a chameleon who will be whatever she thinks will help her win. She is happy enough to be an authoritarian in office--see COVID years--but she is your standard-issue politician whose focus is on gaining and keeping the power and perks, and she will tack to the political winds to keep it.

So if Mamdani is political poison in a national general election, why endorse him?

Simple: Mamdani is the political version of Luigi Mangione, and the left wing--who control the most ardent activists who are going to be key to getting on a presidential ticket--would eviscerate her before she got to the starting gate. She is hoping that Pravda will protect her in the general election, and in that she is correct.

Look at how Kamala Harris went from Biggest Loser as VP to "Joyful" and brilliant in the blink of an eye. Boob Summer turned into Brat Summer in 24 hours. Hochul is counting on similar coverage to wipe away the stain.

But, as we saw with Harris, propaganda is not a magic bullet. It helps a lot, but in a national race, it can be overcome.

Hochul's bigger problem, I think, is her utter lack of charisma. Bernie Sanders, for all his flaws, has a weird charisma coming from "authenticity," which is why he has been a consistent force in the Party. AOC has charisma.

Hochul? Nope. And without charisma, the record dominates. And her record sucks.
