One of the things you cannot convince center-left people of is the obvious fact that the left is fine with paedophiles and paedophilia.
The thought is so repulsive that they would rather believe that it is just a right-wing conspiracy theory associated with Q-Anon, and there is no amount of evidence that will disabuse them of that conviction.
This is a phenomenon I noticed back when I was more directly involved in politics in the 90s and early 2000s. Whenever Democrats in the legislature were promoting changes to the school curriculum, especially in matters related to sexual education and sex-related matters, some brave Republican would stand up and demonstrate, using the clear language of the bill, that the result would harm children.
They were attacked by the Democrats as zealots and alarmists, and even their Republican colleagues would be embarrassed by what they, too, claimed were alarmist rantings.
And every time the critic was right, but it didn't matter because no sane person could conceive of their friends and colleagues intentionally harming children. It didn't bear thinking about!

But the fact is that a lot of leftist Democrats ARE just fine with paedophilia, seeing it as just another sexual orientation ("Minor Attracted Persons) and that restricting the sexual expression of minors is oppressive and bourgeois nonsense based on Christian nationalist ideology. Over the years, this assertion has made it into the academic literature, and in some cases, Democrats in Deep Blue states have put measures in the law decriminalizing the abuse of minors. (I am looking at you, California).

Democratic Party-supported policies that sexualize children are now so common that even centrist liberals either support them out of loyalty to the party, or refuse to believe that the obvious reason for them being followed. Drag queen story hours, field trips to sex-fueled Pride parades that include events like wading into a kiddie pool filled with urine to enjoy the sensation of being peed upon, and open displays of bondage fetishes, are portrayed as important ways to expand kindness and tolerance.

Morning TV shows feature drag kids, and it is now Holy Writ that sterilizing children is necessary, and questioning the practice of mutilating children is practically genocide.
In Florida, there is a dispute, believe it or not, about whether masturbating in public in a playground is acceptable behavior, despite it violating a raft of laws. A Soros prosecutor insists that it is not, and is deeply offended by the implication that her failure to prosecute sex offenders is somehow wrong.
In Virginia, Democrats are doubling down on ensuring that serial sex offenders are a protected class who should be allowed to gawk at naked children, with local Democrats grossly offended by the idea that an obvious male who claims to be transgender should be allowed to lurk in a women's and girls' locker room.
Again, with a nice dose of public masturbation. Because, of course.

When a movie about a real-life case of children being saved from sexual slavery became popular, the entire left-wing and Pravda Media slandered it as Q-Anon propaganda. When conservatives pointed out that Biden's border policy led to distributing children to unvetted "guardians" who placed them in slavery, losing over 300,000 of them, the propaganda machine went to work calling us bigots and cruel.

Far from being something that doesn't bear thinking about, this tolerance of and even aid for child abusers is one of the central moral issues of our time. Left-wing Democrats are committed to policies that sexualize children and promote their use for the sexual pleasure of adults.

They rarely portray their policies in that light--they have far more palatable explanations for their policies, and their center-left supporters nod along and become useful idiots for the radical left.
In the UK, we have already seen the results of this radical shift leftward--the rape gang scandals and the Tavistock disaster--and the left is working daily to do the same or worse here in the United States.
Any fair interpretation of what is happening shows that the left is deeply committed to the sexualization of children and even turning them into sex toys for adults so inclined, but because the idea is so horrific, supporters of the Democratic Party employ cognitive dissonance to deny the obvious.
If and when all this blows up in their faces, there will be no introspection. AS with the COVID policy disasters, cognitive dissonance will allow decent Democrats to explain away their support for these policies. They were trying to be kind. They care deeply about children! That is why they support teachers' unions, welfare policies that destroy families, sterilizing and mutilating children, and alphabet propaganda in schools!
We may have been right about all these issues; they will concede eventually, but for the wrong reasons. We are still bad people, and they are the virtuous ones.
