In a sane world, one would think that a political assassination attempt that left one innocent person dead and left a presidential candidate wounded would lead to a moderation of the extreme rhetoric hurled at him.
We do not live in a remotely sane world. As Chuck DeVore shows, the extreme rhetoric labeling President Trump as a fascist, Nazi, or Hitler skyrocketed soon after the assassination attempt and has continued unabated since his reelection.
And, as Chuck demonstrates, the same has been true in recent months about Charlie Kirk, who was successfully assassinated to the applause of large numbers of liberals, including doctors, lawyers, judges, teachers, academics, and many ordinary liberals.
Charlie Kirk was victim of this trend as well.

One of most important pieces I've written in @FDRLST. https://t.co/aOBhq8LqLZ @TPPF
Inciting rhetoric hurled at conservatives is now so common that many people who consider themselves centrists routinely ignore it, considering an accusation that Trump is Hitler as fairly normal and not worthy of notice. And that is the point--it is now commonly accepted among even many of the Best™ people that Trump is somehow inhuman, and when attitudes like that spread it is almost inevitable that activists will...act. That is what "act"ivists do. And it only takes one.
And, as we have seen, there is more than one who has been activated, and when they inevitably take their shot, a large number of leftists applaud, make lists of new targets, and their fellow travelers tut-tut but then amp up the rhetoric even more. [emphasis added]
n the heated arena of American politics, words have always been weapons. But over the past year, the left’s rhetoric has escalated to a level that not only poisons discourse but also incites violence.
As we approach the end of President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House, a year marred by political assassinations and rising extremism, it’s useful to understand just how much Democrats and their allies in media, academia, rent-a-mob, and activist circles have ramped up incendiary language.
Today, equating President Trump and his supporters with history’s most reviled tyrants isn’t mere hyperbole, it’s calculated — having failed at lawfare and impeachment, the left-wing opposition to MAGA is now rationalizing physical harm to opponents.
Consider data from Google. Looking at the indexed incidence of terms linking Trump to authoritarian evils, we see that, normalized against “water,” a neutral word, to account for growth in overall search volume, the pairing of “Trump” with either “Hitler,” “Nazi,” or “fascist” was flat from January 2015 through the first half of 2024, but spikes after the first assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.
Comparing the first six months of 2015 to the period from July 1 to Sept. 27, 2025, the increases are eye-popping. The relative use of “Hitler + Trump” in articles, social media posts, and other indexed online content rose by a factor of 7.18, a 618% increase. “Nazi + Trump” jumped 13.4 times, or 1,244%. Most alarmingly, “Fascist + Trump” skyrocketed 26.7 times, a 2,572% surge.
Before Trump was elected in 2016, we saw the deadly rhetorical infection slowly spread among the worded elite, from “Fascism in Donald Trump’s United States,” in December 2015 in the Monthly Review, to “The theory of political leadership that Donald Trump shares with Adolf Hitler” in July 2016 in The Washington Post, and even “Seeing Hitler Everywhere ‘As a rule Hitler comparisons are not about fairness. They have a political purpose,’” in The Atlantic a week before the election. The idea was planted and slowly took root.
Yes, you read that right. After Trump's assassination, the use of inciting rhetoric skyrocketed, and not coincidentally, another assassin stalked the president and almost got his chance at taking him out. And who knows how many plots have been quietly foiled? We only hear about the ones that get close.
And tragically, words have turned to deeds. Charlie Kirk’s assassination on Sept. 10 at a Utah college campus event exemplifies this peril. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was allegedly gunned down by 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, who reportedly scrawled his deadly intent on some of the ammunition shell casings he used during the attack.
Robinson’s social media history revealed immersion in left-wing echo chambers, where Trump was routinely called a Nazi dictator. This wasn’t an isolated madman; it fits a pattern of rising left-wing extremism.
Data from think tanks such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) underscores this shift. In 2025, left-wing terrorist incidents have surged while right-wing attacks plummeted. CSIS reports that left-wing violence now outpaces right-wing by a significant margin, with more than 750 domestic terror events since 1994 analyzed and showing a clear uptick in attacks motivated by “anti-fascist” or socialist ideologies.
The Washington Post corroborated this, noting that incidents like Kirk’s murder highlight how “Left-wing actors are responsible for more attacks this year.”
You would expect that social media would be filled with extreme rhetoric--it is the place people go to blow off steam--but the trend extends well into "mainstream" rhetoric, with prominent journalists and politicians indulging in some of the worst accusations. Even after there have been multiple shootings and a dramatic rise in violence aimed at ICE agents, Democrats routinely describe these law enforcement agents as the Gestapo.
SUPERCUT: Democrats referring to ICE agents as the Gestapo.

An absolutely unhinged @RepJohnLarson screams that ICE agents are "the SS" and "the Gestapo" for arresting illegal immigrants.

Democrats continue to value illegals and criminals over law-abiding citizens, while endangering the heroes working to keep us safe — it's sick. pic.twitter.com/QpSBjceyND
Mere days before Charlie Kirk was murdered, the Anti-Defamation League published a report slandering Kirk as a hate monger, and it labeled TPUSA as a hate group.
"Rage" has become a theme among Democrats, and while they claim that they are only trying to channel anger into productive political action, does anybody really believe that? Their denunciations of violence always come with a "but..." and when the federal government targets domestic terrorists, the Democrats leap to their defense. "Antifa is only an idea."
Yeah, right.
This is very disturbing from Dem Spanberger after the recent horrendous political killings from the left, one just this morning

She’s smiling at this. Kind of sociopathic if you ask me. No talk of honoring the public square, rule of law, but unhinged rage. https://t.co/21nMkm2TgI
Conservatives are, of course, annoyed by the Democrats' violent rhetoric, but perhaps we should actually be alarmed. The fact that it escalated AFTER the violence really kicked in tells us that many Democrats are hoping that the violence escalates. While they are not technically violating laws against incitement--that requires encouragement of imminent violence--the same people who accuse us of "stochastic" terrorism because we disagree with them are shouting from the rooftops that we are an existential threat, engaged in genocide, and deserve to be expunged from society.
They are, in other words, inciting the crowd. And with groups like the ADL publishing reports that are used to create target lists, it's hard to believe that many liberals aren't hoping that we are targeted for...expungement... of a more permanent kind than political irrelevance.
The goal is clearly to normalize the dehumanization of conservative figures, and that goal is working with the more extreme elements of the left. The left has always been a violent movement because it is a revolutionary movement. The modern left has its origins in the French Revolution, and the major difference between then and now is that the guillotine has been replaced with bombs, Molotov Cocktails, and firearms.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
