Chuck Schumer Was Right: Eating Burgers in Blue Cities Contributes the Most to Global Warming

Now it can be told: Chuck Schumer had to eat that raw burger to save Mother Earth. 

According to a research paper in Nature, the Bluer the region you live in, the more impact your meat-eating has on Carbon Dioxide levels.

Therefore, it follows that while eating beef is bad enough for Gaia, cooking it would make it even worse. Right?

The obsession with the climate impact of cows is something to behold. It is second only to the elite's fascination with the moral exhortations of Greta Thunberg back when she worried about climate instead of the fate of terrorists.

Hence, we get serious research papers on the climate impact of hamburgers based on geographical location. And thus we learn that, with relatively few exceptions, it is the urbanites who are the ones who are destroying Mother Earth when they eat those $80 burgers in a fancy restaurant. 

Can you guess the top three emitting cities in this analysis? Hint: They’re where the most mouths to feed are: New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. When adjusted for emissions per capita, though, researchers found little connection between how much a town eats and its climate impact.

The new analysis by scientists from the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota shows that these emissions vary depending on where cities get their meat. Researchers modeled pollutants released at every step of the supply chain, from what it takes to get feed for the animals to the climate impact of raising and butchering them. This allowed them to estimate the hoofprints of more than 3,000 towns and cities.

A troll--certainly not me--might suggest that anybody who lives in one of those cities where the climate impact from eating burgers is about twice as high as in many other regions should be required to eat vegan cheese and Beyond Meat. A month or two of this would likely get them to shut up about the climate impact of beef, I would expect. 

Maybe Bernie Sanders and AOC should hop on a private jet, going from city to city to lecture the plebs on how we are ruining the earth. Or, since Harrison Ford liked to fly his personal aircraft on a jaunt to get his favorite burger, perhaps he could add a stop or two along the way to chide Angelinos on their meat-eating habits.
