Democrats sure have an interesting way to show their commitment to kindness, "norms," and decency in politics.
When Jay Jones was exposed as a psychopath who not only supported political violence but one who openly mused that killing one of his colleagues (for saying nice things about a moderate Democrat!) and his children would be a good way to teach Republicans to stay in line, the Democrats in Virginia rallied around him.
Not even his fantasizing about children dying in their mother's arms could dent their support for him. He didn't lose a single endorsement.

Graham Platner…
Nazi tattoo: 2007
Caught with Nazi tattoo: 10/21/25.
Covered up with Celtic tattoo: 10/22/25
18 years walking around with a Nazi tattoo claiming to be anti-fascist…
All they do is lie. pic.twitter.com/R4xpYkipO2
Now Graham Platner, the populist Democratic Party candidate for United States Senate in Maine, has been exposed as a communist who also sported an SS tattoo—an actual NAZI tattoo!—he is still leading in the polls against the current Democratic Governor of Maine.
He has trained Antifa soldiers in gun tactics, and is a fan of political violence.

It apparently doesn't matter. He claims that this all happened in the distant past, although the tattoo remained until it became controversial in October, and his musings about being a communist were made in the past few years. It is only since he became a Senate candidate that he has disavowed his ties to political extremists.
Graham Platner isn’t going anywhere.

The 41-year-old oyster farmer and combat vet says his controversies have “strengthened” his Senate campaign in Maine
“We frankly have not felt this strong since the beginning,” Platner told @sahilkapur in Portlandhttps://t.co/Jst4m24aLG
Granted, Platner is losing campaign staffers worried that their careers will be hurt by being associated with a man whose politics embrace both Stalin and Hitler (not coincidentally, the same poisonous ideological stew that attracts Nick Fuentes), but campaign staffers are not a large voting bloc.

Platner still stands tall where it counts: Democratic primary voters.
PORTLAND, Maine — In the last three weeks, Graham Platner has faced enough damaging revelations to potentially sink just about any candidate. The Democratic Senate hopeful has apologized for making offensive comments in past online posts, covered up a tattoo on his chest that has a Nazi association and lost top staff.
Yet Platner is still standing.
The 41-year-old oyster farmer and combat veteran spoke to a packed crowd at the State Theatre here on Sunday, counted at 745 attendees by his campaign, about his vision for “building power.”
“It is amusing for me to watch the campaign described in the media as collapsing or falling apart — when internally, we frankly have not felt this strong since the beginning,” Platner told NBC News after the event. “It hasn’t sunk my campaign. In fact it seems, in many ways, it’s strengthened us.”
He's still packing them in. Voters, that is.
The Maine Senate race is shaping up to be one of the key fights of the 2026 midterms, with Platner trying to take advantage of the restlessness in the Democratic Party. A progressive populist who has the support of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Platner is running on a platform of universal health care, housing affordability and ending U.S. involvement in foreign wars.
In a wide-ranging interview, Platner addressed the scandals that have engulfed his campaign and said he’s “very proud of who I am today” after the “arcs and valleys” of his life. He inveighed against “establishment politics,” dished on his tense relationship with national Democratic leaders, made the case that he’s more “electable” than Democratic Gov. Janet Mills and explained why he went from voting for Republican Sen. Susan Collins years ago to viewing her as an empty vessel today.
Platner also said he isn’t lamenting his staff departures, which include his political director and finance director.
“We find ourselves now in a significantly stronger position, team-wise,” he said. “While we lost some people, we’ve kept almost everybody, and people that have stayed are galvanized and committed.”
The progressive left loves to throw around Hitler's name and claim that it is Republicans who are flocking to extremist candidates, but that is nothing more than projection. I don't say that because it is politically convenient to do so. All you have to do is look at who the Democratic base is excited about.
Platner, of course. But Mamdani will do fine as an example. He appeals to every antisemitic voter who is now the median voter in the Democratic base—and who has insisted that seizing the means of production and eliminating private property must be long-term goals of the Democratic Party.

Democratic Party consultants understand that this move is poison. Whatever their own ideological commitments—and most of them are center-left because they make a living palling around with big Democrat donors, and they understand that losing all the time is bad for business—the consultants are scared to death that the radical left is taking over their party.
They should be. The top figures in the party are scared too—of their own voters, even more of the center-left donors who are beginning to flee. That's why Hakeem Jeffries and Kathy Hochul have backed Mamdani, and Obama is cozying up to him.

The Democratic Party base is ideologically radical and is embracing violence. Hasan Piker, who hates America so much that he openly says that America deserved 9/11 and screams about disemboweling capitalists, is a major influencer and a good friend of Mamdani.
There are millions of Americans who still live in a fantasy world in which JFK is the model Democrat, and see Platner, AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Jay Jones as outliers.

They are not. They are the heroes of the Democratic Party base. Even the donor class is being replaced, with radical donors taking the place of the tech bros and the finance class.

It's easy to say Democrats need to clean out the radicals in their party, but the fact is that the radicals aim to clean out the merely liberal from the party. Nobody is flocking to John Fetterman. They are plotting to primary him instead.
As I have said before, Democrats will continue to win a lot of elections, and even a few close ones when Republicans are out of favor. But the brand is a huge drag on them, and only a series of losses will force a reckoning. As of now, the party is rushing to where Labour was electorally during the Jeremy Corbyn years.
