Democrats are ruthless totalitarians.
That's not a characterization of their voting base, which is filled, mostly, with ordinary Americans who have yet to figure out that their real enemies are the insurgents who believe that society would be much better if only they had the power and the money.
As I wrote yesterday, the transnational elite has decided that China has the political model that suits them best. They are fine with an oligarchical corporate class that keeps the economy running—as long as they are compliant with the demands of The Party™, but they are ruthless when it comes to anybody who stands in their way.
We've seen that very clearly over the past decade and a half, during which the security forces have been turned into agents of the Democrats, perfectly willing to use the legal system to crush their enemies in places they control (New York and Washington D.C. in particular), and they have willing brownshirts who are eager to use violence to intimidate the populace. They control academia, the public schools, most of big tech, and are deeply allied with transnationalists in Europe who are happy to use their regulatory power to enforce compliance in areas, such as First Amendment rights, where they do not have easy ways to do so here in the US.
Trump has been their enemy number one for obvious reasons: he serves as the Tribune of the Plebs, and his election in 2016 and 2024 presents an existential threat to their power. They do not control every aspect of government, and their influence over the economy is mostly through proxies. As large as the federal government and the Blue States are, the US economy is much bigger. If corporate America doesn't fully cooperate, some of their control slips.
Hence, the growing threats, aimed both a federal law enforcement agents who are cooperating with Trump and at the fraction of corporate America willing to break with them in any way.

Susan Rice offers a taste of what’s coming should the left retake power — promises Democrats will punish corporations and other institutions who have “taken a knee to Trump.”
“It’s not going to end well for them."
“If these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to play by the old rules…they’ve got another thing coming."
“There will be an accountability agenda."
“This is not going to be an instance of forgive and forget."
Note that Susan Rice made these threats in an interview with Preet Bharara, a former US Attorney. It's a clear message that the US legal establishment will back this campaign of revenge against anybody who breaks with the insurgency.

We've seen the threats of prosecution against ICE and Border Patrol agents, where Democrats keep saying that they are keeping score and that they will go after law enforcement agents when they get back into power, and now Susan Rice is saying the same thing to corporate America: stick with us, or we will crush you.

The threats are intended to scare enough corporate leaders, worried about the feds using their regulatory powers to destroy individual companies, into joining the insurgency. Those threats worked against big tech during Trump I. Twitter was run by leftists, at least the second-tier management, but I suspect that Zuckerberg was bullied into compliance by all those threats to use regulation. I wouldn't be surprised if the Zuckerbucks were basically extorted from him.

You probably noticed that the left zeroed in on Target to create an example. Target stores were taken over by "activists," and there were massive efforts to harm the company by "protesters" who worked mightily to disrupt operations.

It was a highly coordinated campaign, and Target was chosen not because it was working with ICE, but because it is a traditionally liberal company based in Minnesota, and it was particularly vulnerable to tactics available when the Democrats don't control the regulatory apparatus.
Democrats think they will regain a lot of power in the 2026 elections, and are flexing their political muscle and warning that the Democrats have more than brownshirts at their disposal, or will soon.
The message is simple: join the resistance, or we will destroy you.
