What if I told you that the City of San Francisco had a program that gave away free booze—a few shots of cheap vodka or beer a day, to be specific—to homeless alcoholics as a "harm reduction" program?
Sound stupid?
You have no idea how stupid. The program, which ran for 5 years, served a total of 55 unique people at a cost of nearly $500,000 per person, or $100,000 or so a year.
That's quite a bar tab.

It was part of an $80 million harm reduction program run through, of course, a politically-connected NGO that pillages the taxpayers for a range of similar services that purport to help homeless people. The NGO, Community Forward SF, is just one of many NGOs selling compassion to the taxpayers, while delivering suffering to the "clients."
San Francisco Mayor Lurie killed the program this year after six years of this particular grift, although I am skeptical that the grifting won't continue in other guises.

A COVID-era program that guzzled $5 million of taxpayer money annually to serve booze to homeless alcoholics will finally shutter this year, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie exclusively told The California Post.
“For years, San Francisco was spending $5 million a year to provide alcohol to people who were struggling with homelessness and addiction — it doesn’t make sense, and we’re ending it,” Lurie said.
$5 million a year went to this scam. Year after year.
Serving 55 people. But don't worry. They tell us they were "unique individuals," so nobody got a double dose of that vodka or beer.
The taxpayer tipple, called the Managed Alcohol Program (MAP), was created by the San Francisco Department of Public Health in April 2020, when the city began housing homeless people in hotels during lockdown.
The program served just 55 clients during its run — amounting to a $454,000 bar tab each.
To prevent chronic alcoholics from dangerous withdrawal while stores and bars were closed, clinicians brought metered doses of beer and liquor to clients.
But the scheme went on for six years, well after the pandemic ended.
Now, “We have ended every city contract for that program,” Lurie added.
A representative for Community Forward, the San Francisco-based nonprofit contracted by the health department to run the plan since 2023, confirmed to The Post that the city had pulled the plug.
A health department official boasted in a 2024 video presentation about one of the success stories, who went from 36 ER visits annually to fewer than 10.
You know how to reduce the ER visits for alcoholics? Clean them up. Get them off the streets.
But that isn't the point of these programs. You don't spend $454,000 a client to hand them vodka in order to help them. You do it for the $454,000 handed over to an NGO that will keep the political machine humming along.
It's the same grift everywhere. Spencer Pratt's mayoral campaign is highlighting all these grifts, and it is driving the establishment nuts.

Every time you hear a politician talk about "solving" homelessness by spending more money, you should immediately and without question assume that they are merely talking about getting a bigger harvest per homeless person, and you can expect that more homeless people will be imported to your area.

The NGO has no obligation to put a homeless person in a bed, so they can bill for every room at $400,000 per year with no one in them
It doesn’t stop there. Taxpayers also cover the purchase, operations, upkeep, and problems even if the facility sits empty
The Weingart NGO operates around 10 similar homeless housing facilities
They are fertilizing and expanding the acreage, so to speak. The harvest is money for their machine. Money and power are gained from the suffering of the downtrodden and the generosity of the taxpayers.

The Feds say he happens to work for a major Govt. funded non-profit that distributes syringes to the same park. Christopher Johnson is charged with intent to distribute fentanyl. Court doc says he was arrested earlier this month with meth, fentanyl, scale & baggies in his BMW and at that time he told police he works for a non-profit, PATH. A 2025 PATH financial report says it gets 94% of its funding from federal and local government. In 2025, PATH had $63 million in salaries and had $10.4m in cash.
It's all a scam, and the taxpayers are the marks.
