Democrats are rightly freaking out about the sudden surge of Communists, AKA 'Democratic Socialists,' who are systematically taking over the Democratic Party.
Some are genuinely appalled that the winners are communists, as they still cling to the idea that a mixed economy with a strong social safety net is preferable to state ownership of the means of production; many others are worried that the communists will take their grift away, and soon enough their seats at the table; and a third group, sometimes overlapping with the first tow, are just worried that the leftward lurch in the party will destroy the Democrats' chances at retaking the presidency.
Again, not everyone in DSA is a hardline communist.

But this is a national DSA leader, part of an internal voting bloc that keeps driving the organization further and further left, saying it plainly.

The whole "big tent" argument only works for them if the socialists are a fringe who are easily dismissed, and only an electoral force in extremely Blue districts. That is clearly no longer the case, with incumbent Democrats getting taken out, and two communists running for the U.S. Senate in competitive seats.

That’s Christopher Winston, a self-described Maoist advocating revolutionary violence. DSA’s National Political Committee voted 15–10 to keep him on its “Red Rabbits” security commission.

The rise of communism is worrying enough, but Democrats have another problem buried within the rise of the DSA: Democrats have to come to grips with the fact that the communists are extremely friendly with the Islamists, and a significant fraction of their voting base, or should I say primary voting base, is rabidly antisemitic and gets their energy not from "progressive" values but from Israel hatred and a determination to spread a form of Islam in the United States.
The alliance between Islamists and communists is nothing new, and is really just a subset of the Islamist attraction to collectivist ideology. During World War II, Islamists and Nazis were allies, and when "decolonization" came to the Middle East, the switch to allying with communists was an easy one for them.

Westerners see a vast difference in ideology between communism and Nazism, but from the perspective of the Islamists, that difference is minor. Both are totalitarian ideologies, eliminating the line between the public and private, just as is true with Islamism. Both were messianic, with the goal of world takeover.
It's not accidental that the rising DSA-Democrats are either very friendly to Islam or actually Muslim, and all of them identify as their primary enemy the Jews.

The Socialist Contingent at the Rhode Island Pride Parade in Providence, RI, turned their part of the parade into a Pro-Palestine rally.

We can all smirk at the irony that Jews overwhelmingly consider themselves Democrats and usually progressive, but that would be a serious mistake. These people are just as dangerous to us as to the Jews; categorically, we look much the same to the communists and Islamists; we may not be first up against the wall, but we are close second, and the Jews and we are fighting the same battle.
There are plenty of reasons to believe that the Islamists, more than the pure communists, are in the driver's seat. The "Palestinian" issue is the unifying force, not communism.
We can roll our eyes all we want at the irrationality of Queers for Palestine, but the Islamist/communist alliance is built on a shared understanding that the West must be destroyed. It's not that the Islamists intend to permanently ally with the social issue left, which is incompatible with their own ideology, but they are perfectly willing to ally temporarily to create a winning coalition.

They did it in Iran, where the communists were among the top leaders of the revolution. They are doing it here, and quite successfully.
It's a great strategy, because downwardly mobile overeducated whites naturally gravitate to communism, and are easily persuaded to embrace the "global south" narrative that has been at the foundation of their educational experience throughout their lives.
The DSA-attracted Democrats are, as you have seen, ineducable on this issue, and absolutely believe that the Islamists are their allies.
Organized Crime Democrats created this movement, if accidentally, and they are right to be scared to death that they will be the biggest losers in the short term.
