Tuesday's Final Word

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a tab or two  ...

... will finally get the chance to rebuild their lives.

The road to this deal was not easy. My Administration worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war. I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line.

Now, with the backing of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope endures and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal measures of peace, dignity, and safety.

Ed: At least Biden mentioned Trump in this message. Obama hasn't bothered to do that. But it sounds like Biden -- or whoever handles his social media accounts -- wants to take credit for the deal, as Antony Blinken attempted yesterday.

NewsmaxIn a rare display of bipartisan praise, Hillary Clinton publicly commended President Donald Trump for brokering a landmark peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, calling it a major step toward stability in the Middle East, The New York Post reported.

The former secretary of state offered an uncommon nod to her longtime political rival, Trump, crediting his administration with achieving what many had thought impossible: ending the two-year Gaza war.

"I really commend President Trump and his administration," Clinton told CBS News 24/7 on Friday, following the announcement that Hamas had agreed to Trump's 20-point peace plan. "As well as Arab leaders in the region for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what's often called the day after," she added.

 Ed: This actually happened on Sunday night, so Hillary got a classier response out first before Obama or Biden. And it's not entirely surprising, since Hillary has always been better on Israel and the Palestinians than most of the people in the Democrat Party. It's one of the few areas in which Hillary gets it; she's much closer to John Fetterman than either Obama or Biden. Of course, she watched while Yasser Arafat plunged a diplomatic dagger in her husband's back -- which brings us to ...

Ed: This is classier than Biden's message, but of course, Bill Clinton didn't have a dog in the fight. Still, this provides yet another contrast that paints Obama in an even pettier light, since technically Obama didn't have a dog in the fight either. Except, of course, that the Biden team was basically HIS team operating under Obama's leadership.

Jim Geraghty at NRO: What is true is that the Democratic Party’s chattering class is vehemently opposed to the Israeli government of Bibi Netanyahu and passionately supportive of the Palestinians. But they represent a tiny sliver of the electorate, almost entirely in deep-blue states. When it comes to presidential elections (and most Senate and U.S. House elections, for that matter) they’re utterly irrelevant and walk around in steadfast denial of that fact, convinced they represent a large and pivotal demographic in elections. ...

But the activist class in the Democratic Party also believed that the point of the cease-fire was to halt the Israelis and effectively punish them, as well as save the Palestinians and — intentionally or not — save the remaining members of Hamas. In the minds of the hard-left anti-Israel types, if the Israeli Knesset is thrilled with the cease-fire, then it can’t be a good cease-fire.

Ed: Exactly this. It's not just that the Democrats hate Trump, although it's a big part of their response. They also hate Israel and especially Netanyahu. Don't forget that Obama and John Kerry tried to interfere in Israel's election in 2015 to prevent Netanyahu from staying PM -- the year before Obama and his team screeched about Russian interference in the US election. The Clintons have their own issues, but they do not hate Israel or Netanyahu. That's the difference; the Clintons used represent the mainstream of the party, but not any longer.

Ed: Mamdani DOES represent the mainstream of Democrat leadership, if not the rank and file.

Alana Goodman in the Free Beacon: Socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani said there is no room for pro-Israel voters within his coalition, arguing that fellow Democrats should not make "an exception" for people who are "progressive except Palestine."

The Democratic nominee said his long history of anti-Israel activism—which includes founding the Bowdoin College chapter of the extremist and terror-aligned Students for Justice in Palestine organization—informs his belief that pro-Israel liberals should be driven out of the left.

"That exception is one that I believe we should not only take issue with because of what it means for Palestinians and Palestinian human rights," he told the New York Times in an interview published Tuesday. "But also, whenever you are at peace with the making of an exception, you make it easier to make another exception—wherever, whenever."

Ed: When Democratic Socialists tell you who they are, believe them. I guess the Clintons are no longer welcome in Mamdani's coalition. Maybe voters in New York City take Mamdani at his word and decide whether they want to align themselves with a liberal democracy in Israel or a tyrannical, brutal Islamist regime in Gaza.

Ed: Res ipsa loquitur. Anyone voting for these nutcases knows precisely what they are buying.

Daily Wire“You know what? He finally did something positive today and I want to give him credit for it, because I know he’s not the type to take credit for himself,” Kimmel said during his monologue. “While we’re only in the first phase of what will undoubtedly be a long and tricky process, but the fact is the bombing has stopped, the hostages have been released, and Trump deserves some of the praise for that. So I know it sounds crazy to say, but good work on that one, President Trump.”

Kimmel couldn’t resist throwing in some snark, however. “Now maybe you can not invade Portland. Just an idea,” the late night host added.

Ed: Why would it sound crazy to credit Trump for a successful cease-fire agreement and freeing 20 hostages? Trump has successfully mediated a half-dozen shooting wars this year already. It only sounds craz because Kimmel immerses himself in a hard-Left epistemic bubble where Charlie Kirk got murdered by MAGA and Trump is Hitler. Hint: Trump's not the crazy one, Jimmy. Get help.

THIS person wants to be in charge of your children's education.

VOTERS: BEWARE

Ed: Wanna bet McArthur watches Jimmy Kimmel? Or Stephen Colbert?

Mediaite: Wisconsin’s Winnebago County Democratic Party is being lambasted after a volunteer was accused of giving a bracelet reading “Is He Dead Yet?” — referring to President Donald Trump — to an 8-year-old at a local farmer’s market.

Fox WLUK 11, Fox’s local station covering Green Bay and its surrounding cities, reported Katy Neubauer and her family were attending the Oshkosh Farmers Market last Saturday when the twisted moment took place.

“The guy behind the tent table said, ‘Hey, give this to your mom, she’s going to really want this,’ and one of the children comes running up, gives us the bracelet and we’re looking at it and it literally says ‘Is He Dead Yet?’ on the bracelet,” Neubauer told reporter Tony Langfellow.

Ed: The local party later claimed that the volunteer did this on his/her own. Maybe, but color me skeptical. Even if that were the case, perhaps Democrats should ask themselves why their volunteers and candidates are this nuts.

===

Ed: With all due respect to Godwin's Law, the Nazis were a popular movement, too. So were the fascists in Italy, and the bushido cult in Japan. We didn't allow those "popular movements" to survive for very good reasons, and Hamas has to be destroyed in a similar manner.

===

David Harsanyi at RealClearPolitics: It seems awfully curious that the people who have made Gazans a central political cause do not seem at all relieved that there's at least a temporary cessation of violence. After all, they have incessantly told us that there is a genocide going on and mass starvation was right on the horizon.

Why aren't there widespread celebrations across Western cities and college campuses today? Why aren't Ceasefire Now! activists ecstatic that the world will again shower Palestinians with hundreds of billions of dollars of aid to rebuild, even after they started another war? Why aren't they celebrating the fact that food and supplies will flow to the hungry without Hamas stealing them?

You know why.

Ed: We all know why. They're not even denying it these days.
