Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007. And don't miss Duane's new podcast series and platform, Duane's World!
What stories topped your priority lists this week? This week, Duane and I don't get to the war until the very end – at least, not the war with Iran. We start out with the redistricting war and the results in Virginia this week, but not before I stump Duane by asking him for his 1970s sitcom CV. If Duane didn't immerse himself in Carter Country, is he really qualified to work as a political pundit? Enquiring minds want to know!
After getting past the idiocy of Virginia state senator Lamont Bagby, we get down to discussing the future of the referendum. The state supreme court will hear oral arguments on Tuesday over challenges; I express some skepticism that the court will throw out the election, since they didn't stop it in January. Duane is more optimistic, and he lets us know how the composition of the high court may indicate potential success. At the moment, though, it appears that the GOP's redistricting project may not pay off in November, unless Ron DeSantis rides to the rescue.
After that, we delve into the indictment against the SPLC. Again, I'm slightly skeptical about the prosecution, but still damn glad that their corrupt manipulations have been exposed. At that point, we update viewers on the war in Iran, why the IRGC just pulled a tanker out of mothballs, and what may happen this weekend if Trump doesn't extend the ceasefire. And what may happen even if he does.
Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
