đ¨ IT WAS ALWAYS A SCAM. A whistleblower inside Letitia Jamesâ own office says investigators spent a year on the Trumps, found no evidence, and still got ordered to keep digging because âwhat Tish wanted, Tish got.â No case. No crime. Just a vendetta with a badge. This is lawfare and the New York Post just put it on the front page.
â Gunther Eagleman⢠(@GuntherEagleman) October 9, 2026
Ed: Lawfare is all they have. If Democrats win the House back, it will kick back into overdrive, too.
===
Axios: Other Democrats also are cautioning against an impeachment campaign if their party takes control of the House in January.
- Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a potential presidential candidate, told NBC's "Meet the Press" last Sunday that he supports investigations, not impeachment, "because it's not going anywhere and it's going to be a food fight."
- Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) said recently: "Don't be impeaching anybody ... Let's just get back to work."
Friction point: Democrats' more progressive wing is already talking about an impeachment drive.
Ed: Which wing of the party will win this argument? I know which way Iâm betting, but the progressives had better be careful here. Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries lost a lot of credibility in overpromising and underdelivering on impeachment in the first term, and now it looks like progressives donât have any other playback.

"We werenât aware the child was in the car I can tell you that. But do you know who was? Oscar. Oscar knew he had a child in his car. Oscar chose to accelerate at a high rate of speed and ram two different vehicles as it appears he was going towards officers. And so the public outcry should also be towards this criminal, this thug, this gangbanger, this possible murderer, the outrage should be with him for endangering the five year old.â @SecMullinDHS
â Homeland Security (@DHSgov) October 9, 2026
Ed: I wrote about this earlier today, but this is a good response from Markwayne Mullin to Zohran Mamdani and all "sanctuary" poseurs. Their demagoguery only encourages suspects to put themselves, officers, and others at risk rather than comply with law enforcement.

NY Times: Pentagon officials said on Thursday that the Army officer convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting would be executed in public, a practice that ended in the United States nearly a century ago and is most commonly carried out in a handful of countries, including Iran, North Korea and Afghanistan.
The Pentagon said in a statement that the military execution, scheduled for Dec. 3, would also be broadcast via livestream. Such a broadcast has little precedent, and releasing video of executions is most often associated with extremist militant groups like the Islamic State.
The announcement adds to the growing spectacle around the planned execution of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 people and wounded 32 others when he brought a personal handgun onto the grounds of Fort Hood, Texas. The rampage was the deadliest shooting at an American military base and sent shock waves through the U.S. military.
Ed: I have mixed feelings about this being televised or live-streamed, but not about the execution itself. Hasan isn't a civilian who committed murder in the civil-criminal sense. He committed an act of perfidy on behalf of enemies of the United States while serving in the American military and killed his own comrades to serve the enemy. That is a military/war context and a firing squad is arguably too honorable for that crime. As for those objecting to its public nature, well ...

The same people who laughed, celebrated, mocked, and reposted pictures and videos of Charlie Kirkâs assassination, who fantasized over Luigi Mangione, called him a hero, and wore free Luigi shirts, and who held a signing ceremony cheering the legalization of aborting babies at 34 weeks, are now telling us that livestreaming the execution of a terrorist who killed 13 Americans while screaming âAllahu Akbarâ is morally and ethically wrong. LOL. Got it.

Ed: Exactly. Activists on the Left celebrated their "Kirkeversary" last month, happily cheering for a man who was assassinated on a livestream for doing nothing more than having a conversation with his political opponents. Pardon me if I don't take their call for better taste seriously in this instance.

Politico: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is begging for resources, and setting a hard deadline for donors to give $17 million in order to compete in a handful of districts that Republicans carried easily in 2024.
DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz said the committee needs the cash influx by Oct. 22 in order to âto take advantage of the opportunities we haveâ outside of the core battlefield, according to a memo shared with donors on Friday and obtained by POLITICO.
If they donât pony up, Merz warns, the party âcould be leaving winnable races on the table.â
Democrats have been clear that they have a fundraising disadvantage this cycle, but they have so far been reluctant to place a specific dollar amount on their needs, making the DCCCâs memo Friday a particularly surprising outlier.
Ed: Democrats have had a huge funding deficit across the board. Is that indicative of a lack of engagement as well as a resource issue? The fact that they're making the gaps public is a sign of particular desperation. Let's wait and see whether they raise the money, and if so, where they will spend it first.

The execution of former Maj. Nidal Hassan is a military matter, not the carrying out of a civilian criminal sentence. He was convicted by Court Martial by a panel of Army Officers who then sentenced him to death. He murdered fellow uniformed military personnel while on active duty during wartime. That's treason. His conduct was no different than had he been in deployed front line unit and turned his weapon on his fellow soldiers. This is Military Justice. It is by the Military for the benefit of the Military. Quit equating it to a civilian criminal offense.

Ed: Yes to all of this. I'm still on the fence about livestreaming it. That's not out of concern for Hasan's dignity â ha! â but mainly to keep him from being a cause celebre over it. Jihadis love the limelight. Let him be executed and quickly disposed in a manner that obliterates him rather than making him a further object of interest.

ABC 12 News (via Dennis Lennox): Saginaw County Sheriff, William Federspiel, announced he is leaving the Democratic Party.
The move comes after the he backed both Republican Mike Rogers for Senator and Republican John James for Governor.
The endorsements led the Saginaw County Democrats to release a statement calling for Federspiel to change his party affiliation or they will run a "True Democrat" when he is up for reelection in 2028.
Federspiel cites fundamental disagreements with the Democratic Party's platform on public safety, abortion, transgender athletics in women's sports and economic polices.
Ed: It sounds as though Federspiel was a 'DINO' anyway, but El-Sayed may have pushed him over the edge. Federspiel may not be alone, either.

Texas Tribune: After a nine-day illness-induced absence from the campaign trail, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico re-emerged Friday with an unannounced appearance at the Austin City Limits music festival.
With early voting fast approaching, Talarico stepped off the trail near the start of last week after revealing he had been diagnosed with the flu. His showing at ACL was his first public appearance since Sept. 30, when he called in virtually to an event with the U.S. Hispanic Business Council. His last scheduled in-person event before that was a Sept. 28 fundraiser in New York with Robert De Niro.
Talarico was seen walking the grounds of Austinâs Zilker Park, the site of ACL, and greeting voters ahead of an expected onstage appearance at the festival Friday afternoon.
Ed: He hasn't been seen in public for thirteen days, not nine. Now we learn that Talarico is supposedly a Type I diabetic. If so, recovery from the flu can be more complicated, but not two-weeks complicated, not for a 37-year-old man in good health otherwise.

Talarico spotted for his first in person appearance since September 28. Let the gaslighting on his whereabouts the past 10 days begin!

Campus Reform: Pro-Palestine students at the University of New Mexico (UNM) were captured on film desecrating a memorial honoring victims of Hamasâ brutal terrorist attack on Israeli civilians on Oct. 7, 2023.
Exclusive video footage obtained by Campus Reform shows students kicking down miniature Star of David flags commemorating the victims. The flags encircled a tree on UNMâs campus.
Staff from Leadership Institute (LI), the parent organization of Campus Reform, supported UNM students organize and display the vigil. Students then reportedly swiped LI merchandise and destroyed it.
âLast night at New Mexico during the October 7th event, a student stole [redacted]âs LI Polo and hat from her bag and later she found students burning the hat and shirt on social media,â a source told Campus Reform after providing an image of engulfed clothing items.
Ed: If you can't offer a convincing counterargument, you just stomp all over your opponents. Not coincidentally, that's exactly how Hamas operates, too.

NBC News: Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia is expected to be named the next White House press secretary, replacing Karoline Leavitt, two White House officials and a source familiar with the decision told NBC News.
Zacharia currently serves as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, which runs President Donald Trumpâs Truth Social website. The New York Times was first to report the selection.
Ed: Congratulations to Zacharia. I'm not familiar with her work, but this is more about having the confidence of the president than it is about Briefing Room track records. I was hoping to see Katie Pavlich get it, but she has a better gig at News Nation already. Zacharia will have tough shoes to fill, certainly.
