A New Flavor of Protest

Marches by communists, Palestinian sympathizers, Maduro supporters, assorted communists, etc. have been common. I myself have reported from “No Kings”protests, and the Harvard Yard occupation, in Boston, and the Columbia protests in New York.

Add to that a pro-Shah Iranian protest in Boston this weekend.

Iranian flags at a march in Boston aren’t that unusual, but these are the pre-Khomeini imperial flags, with the lion. Note, too that there were American flags galore. Also not that unusual, except that these weren’t being burned, or flown upside down, or defaced with leftist slogans.

There were also quite a few vehicles (mostly quite nice ones) sporting Iranian and American flags, often in combination. It was a big enough event that it drew a handful of communists — with a red hammer-and-sickle flag, no less — in the hopes of garnering some attention too, though there weren’t many takers for their literature.
