On Wednesday, the Florida House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 1220, which includes an amendment that would allow highway speed limits to increase to 80 mph, 10 mph higher than the current speed limit on interstates.

The bill received strong support, passing with an 87-23 vote, and is now headed back to the Senate to vote on an amendment.
Right now, the speed limit on highways like I-95 is 70 miles per hour.
Drivers have mixed reaction about the bill.
"They might as well," said Lorenzo of West Palm Beach. "Everybody already drives about 75/80 miles anyway, and I drive all the time as a delivery driver, so it helps us out."
