President Trump met today with law enforcement and National Guardsmen who have been deployed to Washington, DC. He traveled to Anacostia and gave a little speech in which he praised law enforcement and promised to stick with his project to make DC safer and cleaner for as long as it takes.
Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were among those stationed outside of the U.S. Park Police Anacostia Operations Facility as Trump talked up the federal takeover of D.C. police that's been accompanied by the deployment of more than a thousand National Guard troops.
"I feel very safe now, and I’m hearing people are very safe," Trump told the crowd. “You people are winners. And I just think it’s really it’s such an honor to be with you. And we’re going to make Washington D.C. great again.”
Trump was flanked by several administration officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and recently confirmed U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro, each delivering brief remarks commending Trump.
After praising the officers, Trump's hit several topics unrelated to crime or the nation's capital, such as efforts to secure foreign investment in the U.S., accelerate the advancement of the nation's artificial intelligence industry and extend his 2017 tax cuts.
Trump did meander a bit during his speech, but he repeatedly returned to praising law enforcement and saying he was proud of the work they were doing. He also promised he was going to fix up the streets, the grassy areas, even the street signs to make everything look like new. He said it might take six months or a year but eventually it would be perfect.

In fact he may be seeing some of them tonight. Earlier today he suggested he was going on a ride-along with the MPD later.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to conduct a patrol with the Metropolitan Police and the National Guard Thursday, following his efforts to federalize the police department and dispatch troops to crack down on crime in Washington.
"I’m going to be going out tonight with the police and with the military, of course," Trump said in an interview Thursday with radio host Todd Starnes.
Finally, here's a video of most of Trump's speech. Like I said, he wandered a but, but you get the feeling a lot of those guys like him and were genuinely happy to be there.
