This truly awful few minutes occurred this morning on a downtown street in metropolitan Montreal, Canada.
WARNING: The videos are incredibly GRAPHIC and difficult to watch.
I waited to post this until there was some information on who the gunman was who started firing, and that is just becoming clearer, but unnamed as yet. An officer was hit multiple times and killed. There is also an absolutely sickening moment when an older bystander looks to have been shot at point-blank range when he, instead of taking shelter behind a planter or column, popped up right next to a female cop in the middle of a gun battle.

The neighborhood where it took place is known for being Jewish, and the fears at first were that a madman was hunting the Jews in the popular area - there are Jewish supermarkets, delis, and apparently, well-attended synagogues, but those were put to rest pretty quickly.
A window was broken out of a hotel room overlooking the street, and the attacker started his rampage from there, and then brought it down to street level.
Anyone interacting with police in Canada need to be hyper aware that cops will be on edge moving forward.

Police have since said they have found an INCEL-style manifesto in the room, where the young man, who had driven in from Alberta, railed against women, pornography, and, later reports have mentioned, was also anti-police.
The suspect behind a shooting that left three dead Monday in Montreal is believed to be an anti-feminist who drove from Alberta in the days leading up to the tragedy.
According to sources consulted by our investigative team, investigators believe that this man advocates an ideology that aligns with that of involuntary celibates, the "incels".
The individual opened fire from a hotel room on Décarie Boulevard shortly before noon. He left behind a manifesto of several dozen pages, which is in the possession of the police.
In his writings, he laments male loneliness and spreads derogatory remarks about women, according to the preliminary analysis by the police.

Even hours later, things are still sideways after the madness.
And the female officer was hit, as well, from what I can glean. Her wounds, I believe, will take far longer to heal.
And there is still no name at all for the gunman, although the updated weapons ban argument is raging, as you might expect. Owners have until October 30 to turn in their banned weapons.
...An Amnesty Order, expiring October 30, 2026, is in place to protect owners from criminal liability for unlawful possession of a newly prohibited firearm if those owners were previously in lawful possession of one or more of the newly prohibited firearms on the day the amendments to the Classification Regulations came into force (March 7, 2025). This will allow owners the time to come into compliance with the law. Owners of any of the newly prohibited firearms must continue to possess a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence to be protected by the amnesty.
Effective immediately, the newly prohibited firearms can no longer be legally used, sold, imported, or transferred to another individual, and can only be transported as provided in the Amnesty Order.

But none of them published the actual document — they just quoted the odd phrase from it, and called him an “incel”. That’s a term for someone who was “involuntarily celibate”, or someone who didn’t do well with women. The usual suspects were doing the media circuit claiming that Hatfield was a “right wing” extremist.
But if that was true, why was the manifesto being shown only to selected, government-friendly journalists? Why were the rest of us blocked from seeing it for ourselves?

It’s true that the murderer had extreme ideas about women. But that was only a small part of his world view. In most of the rest of his rambling remarks, he was indistinguishable from left-wing politicians like Bernie Sanders, Avi Lewis, or half the Liberal cabinet.
He praised Communism. He called for the abolition of private property. He railed against the Jews, and Zionism. And — like Mark Carney himself — he demanded the censorship of the Internet.
...has gotten a copy of the murderer's manifesto. His name was Seth Hatfield, and he was a toxic stew of hate-filled madness. Everything from anti-Zionist ravings, to 'I hate women,' and capitalists are bad, to all the INCEL 'I'm just a lonely boy' lunacies in between.
These twisted souls are such deeply damaged goods that they seem irretrievable.
...The manifesto repeatedly attacks Jews and Zionists, claiming there are "many Jews" within the Western ruling class and stating that the author sometimes refers to it as the "Judaeo-bourgeois class."
A copy of the document obtained by Rebel News further alleges that "the influence of Zionist Jews upon the western bourgeoisie is in fact so strong" that it has shaped Western society itself, and goes on to assert that "Jewish interests dominate the levers of finance, media, and politics," describing this alleged influence as "pervasive and corrosive."
The document also praises communist systems and condemns capitalism, describing modern Western societies as "hypergamous hellscapes." It states that "capitalism is a system designed to extract value from the many for the benefit of the few," and claims that "under capitalism, human beings are reduced to commodities, their worth measured only by their economic output." The author further writes that "the capitalist order has destroyed authentic community and replaced it with transactional relationships," and argues that "market logic has infiltrated every aspect of life, leaving individuals alienated and spiritually hollow."
Based on the structure of the document, the author first lays out his political and racial grievances—including antisemitic and anti-Zionist claims—before turning later to what he describes as "the situation of terrible loneliness, isolation, and social degradation" facing men in the West. He then promises to explain "what should be done about it henceforth."
Throughout the document, the author advances theories about female "hypergamy," arguing that modern women pursue only a small group of attractive men while most men are left isolated and alone. He repeatedly laments the collapse of traditional monogamy and portrays male loneliness as a civilizational crisis.
People are noticing the disconnect between what the CBC has been reporting about the attacker and what the manifesto contains.

Naturally, Levant's emphasis would lean towards the anti-Semitic content of this deranged creature's writings, but, as the only civilian casualty was almost certainly a police shooting, I don't believe this was meant as an attack on Jews. I mean, he had the rifle in his hands and paid the older Jewish gentleman on the sidewalk in front of the store no mind at all. Blew right by him as he went hunting cops. The very cops that Hatfield's firing from the broken hotel window drew to the area.
That could well have been part of the plan.

I am so glad they were able to unalive his deviant carbon sack before he got anyone else, but what a damn shame.
I also wonder what is going to come out about just how 'different' Seth Hatfield was. If there had been any previous interactions with authorities in Alberta, as there had been in the Tumbler Ridge, BC school shooting this past February.
