Yes, This Is Real

Perplexity AI and David Strom

It's my last post for the week, at least per the schedule, and I try to keep it a bit lighter than my usual rants about the state of the world.

Sometimes I do a "Things I Like," and sometimes a bit of news of the weird.

There is always something weird in the world. With 8+ billion people, not to mention a lot of leftists, AWFLs, and downright crazy people, almost anything physically possible is bound to occur somewhere in any given week.

Such as Sarah B. Rogers, the Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, testifying before Congress about the Biden administration's efforts to "Queer" the map.

Now I have made my peace with the fact that not everybody shares my values, and I have had over the years a number of gay friends, so I hold no specific animus toward gay people whose behavior otherwise is in the normal range of socially acceptable behavior (and yes, I hold my heterosexual friends to the same standards).

But gay maps? WTF is that? It is not only nonsensical, but even if it were a thing, it would be stupid.

Now, before you get all angry at Ms. Rogers, you should know that she is a Trump appointee trying to clean up this mess, having assumed the job after a distinguished—really distinguished, actually—legal career. She won an important case at the Supreme Court and helped Charlie Kirk fight against online censorship of his content

She litigated a winning Supreme Court appeal in 2024 under the First Amendment, challenging the "debanking" of disfavored speakers by hostile regulators in the case NRA v. Vullo.[8][7] Rogers also spearheaded challenges to social media censorship and the weaponization of law enforcement, including the successful appeal of the wrongful conviction of Douglass Mackey and cases involving the online censorship of Charlie Kirk.[8]

She's on Team Sanity, for which we should be grateful.

But imagine what it is like for a sane person to walk into and try to set straight a bureaucracy that thinks "Queering the Map" is a thing, no less a thing that the State Department should spend time and money on.

It's an 'Uh, wat?" experience, for sure.

I can't imagine what it is like for Trump appointees who have to navigate the bureaucracies that have become corrupted or so  off track that their value is negative and trying to fix them. It must not just be immensely frustrating, but akin to jumping through the looking glass and trying to make sense of it.

And all while doing so, knowing that Democrats have put a political hit out on you. Many Trump allies, once he left office, were hounded for years, and there are actual organizations preparing to destroy the lives of anybody associated with Trump once he leaves office.

Democrats are vowing revenge, and they mean it. When they talk about "norms," they mean the absolute rule by the establishment who shall not be challenged.

So, KUDOS to Sarah Rogers. She is doing the country a service, and we don't just owe her thanks, but the promise that we will not let Democrats do to her and other Trump appointees what they are eager to do: destroy them.

Editor's note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
