Reporter Was Beaten in the Street and Portland Police Did Nothing (Update)

Reporter Katie Daviscourt works for the Post Millenial. She has spent months documenting the violent behavior at an ICE facility in Portland. She was there, for instance, when an Antifa goon was tased and charged with aggravated assault for threatening ICE agents with a machete.

And she was there when a guy in an Elmo costume showed up to troll Antifa.

Tuesday night, Daviscourt was there when a female member of the group walked up to her waving a flag. The woman then intentionally swung the flag pole across her face.

Daviscourt was left with a black eye. She immediately went and found a Portland police officer and directed him to the suspect. He briefly stopped her and then let her leave.

At this point the police are nowhere to be found but Daviscourt followed the suspect as she was escorted to an Antifa safe house.

Officers said it wasn't safe to go inside to get the suspect.

After letting the suspect walk away, the useless Portland Police then put out this request for information.

Daviscourt went on Jesse Waters show to discuss the incident. She's partly reaction to Police Chief Bob Day who gave an interview claiming the all of the problems are limited to one city block. Daviscourt says that's literally not the case. Antifa controls several blocks near the ICE facility.

We'll have to wait and see if the PPB bothers to arrest this person or if the suspect will simply get away with beating a woman in the street.

Meanwhile, President Trump has said he will send troops into the city and Gov. Kotek has denied troops are needed.

“The Governor of Oregon must be living in a ‘Dream World,’” Trump wrote in his post on Truth Social. “Portland is a NEVER-ENDING DISASTER. Many people have been badly hurt, and even killed. It is run like a Third World Country. We’re only going in because, as American Patriots, WE HAVE NO CHOICE. LAW AND ORDER MUST PREVAIL IN OUR CITIES, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE!”...

“I believe this is unlawful and unwarranted,” Kotek said in the message. “You broke your promise to speak with me before taking further action against Portland. I will be in touch later.”

Gov. Kotek has joined a lawsuit which is now playing out in court.

It’s anybody’s guess what a federal judge in Portland will do Friday when the city and state seek an emergency court order to stop President Trump’s deployment of troops to Portland -- options include outright blocking the troops, allowing them to come with or without restrictions or simply waiting until they actually arrive.

Some legal experts say the Oregon attorneys may face an uphill battle if no troops are on the ground yet and if the government makes clear that they’ll serve in a limited role of protecting federal property and officers when they arrive...

The state joined with the city of Portland and filed a lawsuit challenging the deployment and then filed a motion for the temporary restraining order to block the troops’ arrival.

None have shown up yet at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in South Portland.

So we could get a temporary order as soon as tomorrow that would decide the issue for about two weeks. If Antifa were smart (they're usually not) they would just take a week off and lay low. But the temptation to square off against Trump's troops is probably going to be too great. If anything we'll see a resurgence of activity of the Guard shows up at the ICE facility.

Finally, here's a report Kate Daviscourt did for the Post Millennial earlier this month on the months of chaos Antifa have created at the site.

Update: Another eyewitness who was there that night describes the scene.

...the thugs set their sights on a woman in a white sedan. Her name is Helena, and I had just interviewed her. Born and raised in Portland, Helena had just told me, "Our streets are ravaged. Look at our streets: There’s homelessness, it’s full of garbage, businesses are leaving. We are not a thriving city."

Now, her car was completely surrounded by masked Antifa losers, including one in a giant frog costume. Women screeched at her as the soy-boy miscreants berated her in belittling terms.

It was clear the three police officers standing by were going to do nothing despite her car being repeatedly kicked, so I made my way through to her, tapped her on the shoulder and said, "You should probably go."

Helena replied, slightly panicked, "I want to, but they won’t let me."

I looked up at her captors and said firmly, "She wants to leave; let her leave," and, of all people, it was the frogman who shouted, "Let her leave," as I helped her back up without hitting anyone.

As I crossed the street, one of the cops — hand to God — said to me, "What happened there?" I was gobsmacked. I said, "They wouldn’t let her leave, so I helped her get out." He replied, "Good."

Why are the police spectators to threats and violence against people? It was only moments later that Daviscourt was hit with a flagpole. She was told to make a report at which time we learn why police are doing nothing:

When we arrived, police told us that "higher-ups" had told them not to engage "so we don’t become a flashpoint." It was an abject surrender of the streets.

This isn't an accident, it's Chief Bob Day's plan playing out as he intended.
